NOW HIRING: We are looking for a Welder 1 (more of an entry-level) to join our team as a Pole Seam Finishing in either Big Pole or Small Pole. A Welder 1 is responsible for performing MIG welding, layout, tacking, fabrication and building functions in the manufacture of various products in accordance with product specifications.
Successful completion of internal welding test is mandatory.

Location: Winsted, MN
Salary Range: $22.95 – 27.00 per hour (Non-Exempt)

Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday - Thursday 5am - 3pm
Shift Differential: 1st shift - N/A
As a Welder 1, you will:
- Perform the following GMAW welds: butt, V, Single bevel, and fillet welds on carbon steel
- Perform MIG welding tasks to Welding Procedures Specifications (WPS) and CWI inspection requirements
- Produce welds that pass visual inspection
- Demonstrates the ability to weld the above weld joints with either .045 and/or .062 diameter wires
- Proficient in print reading and understands weld symbols and welding gauges
- Read and understand MMC's WPS's - select appropriate wire and shielding gas and weld within WPS weld parameters
- Layout and tack to specifications
- Use grinder or other appropriate tools to clean, smooth out, grind or finish parts as needed
- Use various machines to fabricate, build, and design products
- Repair improperly welded pieces and fill holes
- Monitor the production board and internal paperwork to perform tasks in the designated sequence
- Accurately label all parts for routing to next operation
- Enter job data in production tracking system
- Use crane, hoist, forklift or other material handling equipment to transport materials and product into and out of the work area as required.
- Must be AWS GMAW certified
- Welders employed with Millerbernd will have the opportunity to complete all weld certification requirements including AWS certifications within 14 days of employment
- Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements
Role Qualifications as a Welder 1:
- Successful completion of internal welding test is mandatory
- MIG Welding experience is preferred
- Other combinations of formal training and experience will be considered
- Proficient in welding techniques on flat, vertical and rotating planes
- Operational knowledge of Electric Plasma and Acetylene Torch
- Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbols
- Ability to operate hoists, cranes, and other powered industrial vehicles as needed
- Ability to operate various power and hand tools
- Knowledge of weld positioners, turners, fixtures and equipment
- Accurately use tape measure and precision measuring instruments
- Ability to perform basic shop math functions
- Ability to electronically record production information
- Ability to read and understand required internal manufacturing paperwork
