Job Description:
Established in 1955, Miller-Stephenson Chemical (located in Danbury, CT) has emerged as a leading distributor of chemical products used in the aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing industry. We have an immediate opening for an Accounting Manager.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:00 PM.
Starting salary is $80,000/year.
JOB DUTIES:
- Manage the monthly financial close process.
- Inventory management – ensure inventory balances are accurate, investigate variances, analyze and monitor inventory for process improvements.
- Lead the annual physical inventory.
- Assist with the annual financial audit – prepare documentation and coordinate with the external auditors.
- Operating system management – assist with operating system issues and/or enhancements and coordinate with the external company.
- Oversee all A/R and A/P operations – ensure compliance to procedures consistent with GAAP.
- Complete ad hoc projects as requested.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Positive attitude with the ability to work well in a team.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a strong understanding of US GAAP/Financial Accounting
- 3 years of progressive Accounting experience
- Experience managing and monitoring effective internal controls
- Experience in inventory and fixed asset accounting
- SAP system experience
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to adhere to tight deadlines and manage priorities
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be punctual and reliable
