Duties
- Develop and review designs for CBRN detection, protection, and response systems in accordance with nuclear engineering design codes, ASME standards, and NRC regulations.
- Lead technical project management efforts to implement system upgrades or new installations within nuclear power plants or related facilities.
- Conduct detailed analysis of radioactive waste management processes and radioactive material handling procedures to optimize safety and efficiency.
- Utilize programming languages such as Python, C , and Fortran to develop simulation models, control algorithms for distributed control systems, and automation scripts.
- Perform laboratory experiments and testing of CBRN detection equipment, ensuring compliance with quality assurance protocols.
- Oversee manufacturing processes related to system components, ensuring mechanical integrity and adherence to mechanical engineering principles.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including reports, design reviews, safety assessments, and compliance submissions aligned with NRC regulations.
- Provide team leadership by mentoring junior engineers and coordinating cross-disciplinary efforts in system design and analysis.
- Apply mechanical knowledge and analysis skills to evaluate system performance under various operational scenarios.
- Ensure all activities meet stringent safety standards related to radioactive waste handling and radioactive materials management.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction or installation of complex systems within nuclear facilities or power plants.
- Strong background in nuclear engineering principles, including familiarity with nuclear power systems and reactor operations.
- Hands-on laboratory experience with radioactive materials or detection equipment is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in using programming languages such as Python, C , Fortran for system modeling or automation tasks.
- Experience working with distributed control systems (DCS) used in critical infrastructure environments.
- Knowledge of nuclear regulatory standards including NRC regulations and ASME codes & standards related to pressure vessels and piping systems.
- Prior involvement in design review processes for nuclear or radiological systems using system engineering methodologies.
- Ability to lead technical teams effectively while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with radioactive waste management practices, quality assurance protocols, and safety procedures in high-hazard environments.
