What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Technician position at Miller Plastic Surgery?
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our team in providing excellent patient care. This position will be responsible for preparing operating rooms and instruments, assisting surgeons during operations, and providing post-operative care. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, work well in a team setting, and be able to handle a high-pressure and fast-paced environment.
Surgical Technician Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up surgical instruments and equipment in the operating room
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing and disinfecting incision sites
- Assist surgeons during surgery by passing instruments and supplies, as well as retracting tissue and counting sponges, needles and instruments
- Monitor patient’s vital signs during surgery
- Record patient’s history and physical status
- Provide post-operative care by changing dressings, monitoring vital signs and administering medications
- Maintain a clean and organized operating room
Surgical Technician Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Surgical Technician (CST) certification
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technician preferred
- Able to remain calm and focused in a high-pressure environment
- Able to work quickly and efficiently
- Physically able to lift and move heavy equipment and patients
