Job Summary
A busy Podiatry office, in business 26 years, with multiple locations in Miller Place and Rockville Centre is looking for a Part Time Medical Receptionist/ Medical Assistant for the Miller Place office. Front office and back office experience is a strong plus, but willing to train the right candidate. Job responsibilities will include, among others, answering telephone calls, making appointments, Obtaining X-rays (if qualified), cleaning and preparing exam rooms. Some computer experience is needed as the office uses an advanced Electronic Medical Records system.
Candidate MUST be able to work on Tuesday Mornings and Thursday afternoons to evening. Qualified candidates can email their CV
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in and check-out processes to ensure a seamless patient experience
- Obtain and record accurate vital signs, medical histories, and current medications during patient intake
- Prepare patients for examinations by documenting symptoms and updating medical records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical procedures such taking X-rays, or collecting specimens
- Support documentation of diagnoses using ICD coding and maintain detailed patient records in compliance with privacy regulations
- Manage appointment scheduling, follow-up reminders, and coordinate referrals to specialists or other departments
- Perform basic laboratory tasks, including specimen collection and processing, while adhering to safety protocols
Requirements
- Proven experience working in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics; hospital experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration techniques
- Hands-on experience with EHR systems and medical administrative support tasks such as intake and scheduling
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent required; additional certifications like X-ray or emergency medicine are a plus
- Familiarity with inpatient settings, Level I or Level II trauma centers, Geriatrics, Medical-surgical units, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), or Level I Trauma Center experience is highly desirable
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately in diverse healthcare environments
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in fast-paced settings such as emergency medicine or urgent care clinics

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
