Access Control Installation technician
Miller Network Innovations is offering a position for an Access Control installation technician with a focus on installing locking mechanisms. Primary duties will include installing door strikes, magnetic locks, push bars and related hardware in new construction and retrofitting existing construction. Applicant will also be trained on installation of Access Control panels and related hardware such as card readers and low-voltage wiring.
This is a full time position with variable working hours. This is a physical job that requires the ability to lift materials, climb ladders and work from aerial lifts to install equipment or run data lines. This position requires traveling to different locations to complete customer installations. Majority of work will be day trips within a few hours drive of Dayton. Overnight trips will be required occasionally.
Preexisting experience installing locking mechanisms (both new build and retrofit) is required to be considered for this role. Candidate will be asked to demonstrate knowledge of how electrified strikes, magnets and similar hardware is installed during interview. Preexisting experience installing access control systems as a whole is a major plus.
Primary Duties include:
-Install electric door strikes and mag locks including cutting into existing frames
-Install push-bars and related hardware
-Install access control panels and power supplies
-Install related door hardware such as RF readers and DPIs
· Access Control system installation and configuration (will train)
-Wire discovery
-Run and install door hardware wiring (typically 18/4 or Cat6)
-Terminate wiring into control panels
-Install conduit when appropriate
-Ability to adapt and resolve unexpected installation challenges
-Conduct initial evaluations of potential customer sites to determine access control and security needs
Secondary duties
The Access Control Installation tech will work with other members of MNI’s technical installation team and may be asked to assist with larger projects. Tasks may include
-Network data cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a)
-Security camera mounting
-Alarm system installation
Additional Job Requirements
· Valid driver’s license
· Ability to climb 6-12 foot ladders, be comfortable working from heights and the availability to lift 50 pounds are required
-Operate lifts for high ceilings and high exterior walls
· Willingness to learn and follow directions.
· Use basic power tools such as drills, drivers, grinders and saws.
· Clean and professional demeanor and appearance.
· Ability to work independently and with a team for larger projects
Schedule
Business’s primary operating hours are 8-5 Monday through Friday. However this position will have a variable schedule (typically Monday-Friday, weekend work is rare but does occur). Majority of work will be within 1-3 hours drive from Dayton Ohio. Occasional overnight trips will be required as needed.
Daily work schedule is variable and project dependent, due to travel requirements some workdays may start between 6-7 AM and return after midnight. Overnight trips out of town will include company covered meals, lodging and travel expenses. Workweeks that involve long-hours are balanced out with long weekends to maintain a standard 40 hour workweek.
Travel
This position requires traveling to different locations daily. Majority of work will range between Columbus and Cincinnati regions. Company service vehicles are provided but some use of personal vehicles may be required. MNI reimburses employees driving their personal vehicles at a standard mileage rate. Candidate should expect daily travel to work sites from MNI HQ (or direct from home when appropriate).
Pay
Pay is $25-35 hour dependent on experience. Benefits after 90 days include health, dental, vision and life insurance. Other benefits include 401k and paid time off.
