What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Administrative Assistant - Litigation position at Miller Johnson?
Miller Johnson, one of Michigan’s largest full-service law firms, is seeking an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant for our Litigation practice group in our downtown Grand Rapids office.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate administrative and practice group tasks and projects to support attorneys
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, appointments, deadlines, and conference calls
- Track and manage litigation deadlines, filings, and related court documents
- Prepare and coordinate new client intake, including engagement letters, conflict checks, and matter setup
- Interact professionally with clients via phone, email, and in person
- Prepare, edit, proofread, and assemble legal documents and correspondence, including letters, memos, pleadings, discovery, motions, and brief
- Finalize court documents by ensuring compliance with court rules and submitting filings electronically through Electronic Case Files (ECF) as required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years of legal administrative experience required
- Litigation experience, including docketing, and knowledge of court and agency processes and procedures required; familiarity with BEC preferred
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required
- Excellent grammar and communication skills required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of client and firm information required
