Miller Johnson is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist. This role focuses on recruiting and hiring for all non-attorney staff positions, managing onboarding processes, ensuring new hire compliance, and tracking key hiring metrics. The HR Generalist partners with hiring managers to deliver a seamless candidate and new hire experience while maintaining compliance with firm policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities:
- Source candidates through various channels including job boards, social media, and referrals.
- Coordinate internal job postings and referral programs ensuring integrity and equal opportunity.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to clarify job requirements and assess candidates against specifications.
- Conduct initial screenings and assessments of candidates for qualifications and fit.
- Prepare offer letters and communicate firm benefits, policies, and job details to candidates.
- Maintain accurate records of candidate information and recruitment activity in compliance with regulations.
- Implement streamlined workflows within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) for efficiency and positive candidate experience.
- Develop new hire onboarding including orientation schedules, compliance paperwork, and system setup.
- Audit pre-hire and new hire documentation ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare and analyze recruitment metrics and reports (time-to-fill, source effectiveness, etc.).
- Follow all ethical, HR, safety, and security policies and procedures, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.
- Serve as backup for other team members as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of HR experience with emphasis on recruiting and onboarding.
- Knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in HRIS and ATS systems; strong organizational and communication skills.
Skills, Knowledge, and other Competencies:
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Zoom with ability to learn new systems
- Excellent grammar and communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships
- Exceptional client service, discretion, and judgment to ensure confidentiality
- Ability to be flexible and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Critical thinker with ability to gather and evaluate data to make informed, timely decisions and provide creative solutions
- Proactive, organized and detail-oriented to apply strategies to ensure projects are effectively prioritized and executed
- Able to work independently, plan ahead, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, move projects forward and meet deadlines
