What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pipe Fitter position at Miller Integrated Solutions?
Primary Responsibilities and Key Deliverables
Plans, prepares, installs, and maintains piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials; systems may include pipes, pressure and vacuum gauges, pipeline filters, steam traps, and strainer valves.
Consults blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; creates working procedures based on specifications.
Gathers equipment and materials for the job.
Welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fits pipes.
Attaches pipes and piping systems to walls using brackets, bracket systems, or clamps, cuts or boreholes prior to the project.
Installs various types of insulation and pipe covering; safely removes and properly discards old coverings according to hazardous waste procedures and EPA and OSHA requirements.
Inspects pipes, testing for pressure and leaks; reports and/or resolves problems.
Coordinates with the manager to schedule machinery maintenance, repairs, and installation to minimize disruption to operations.
Comply with applicable safety and building codes, regulations, and best practices.
Maintains records, including safety logs and inspection details.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Competencies
Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
Ability to use various tools, including blowtorches, saws, pipe benders, and welding torches.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience
Successful completion of a four-year apprenticeship that included classroom and on-the-job instruction in pipefitting or related field.
Valid State License.
Work Environment
Tools, equipment, machinery used: Hydroblasting, Vacuum Truck, and Tank cleaning equipment.
Working conditions: Will be exposed to all weather conditions. Work on various structures and surfaces both at ground and elevated levels up to and possibly exceeding 150 ft. Work in confined spaces. Work a 12-hour shift with 30-minute lunch breaks. If requested, work overtime, and respond to emergency callouts whenever they occur. Work days, nights, and weekends. Travel to customer and other Miller sites as needed.
Physical effort required: Handling tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 150 lbs. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, crawl, bend, squat, and kneel. Must be capable of climbing towers/vessels/tanks.
