Responsibilities
- Supervise daily maintenance activities for the fleet, including scheduling repairs and inspections to minimize downtime.
- Lead a team of technicians by providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure high standards of workmanship.
- Conduct thorough diagnostics using schematics, automotive diagnostics tools, and mechanical expertise to identify issues accurately.
- Oversee repairs on diverse equipment such as heavy equipment, aggregate equipment, and heavy-duty trucks.
- Manage maintenance records meticulously for all vehicles and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.
- Coordinate with vendors for parts procurement, fabrication services, and specialized repairs like welding or hydraulic system repairs.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols related to vehicle operation, air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, transmissions, tire service, and electrical components.
- Perform inspections on critical systems including brakes, alignment, shocks & struts, steering components, HVAC units, diesel engines, and power tools used in maintenance tasks.
- Facilitate routine preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment lifespan and optimize performance.
- Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety standards related to heavy lifting, welding operations, soldering processes, and the use of hand tools or power tools.
- Support customer service initiatives by ensuring timely repairs that meet operational needs while maintaining high-quality standards.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic or service technician experience with a strong background in truck and heavy equipment maintenance.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar, Mack, Bobcat or similar industrial machinery is advantageous.
- Extensive knowledge of fabrication techniques including welding and metalwork.
- Hands-on experience with excavators, tractor-trailers, farm machinery, and other industrial equipment.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting electrical systems and hydraulics.
- Strong mechanical knowledge covering transmissions, air brake systems, alignment procedures, suspension components, HVAC systems, diesel engines, shocks & struts.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools (including welding equipment), laptop, and diagnostic tools for vehicle maintenance.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Strong leadership qualities with experience supervising maintenance teams in fast-paced environments.
