MEDFORD, OKLAHOMA - This job advertisement is for a full-time position at our Emergency Medical Services system control center in MEDFORD, OKLAHOMA.
Salary: Starting $14/hr without EMD $16/hr with EMD certification
EMD certification training provided to those without.
Miller EMS is currently accepting applications for EMS dispatcher. The EMS dispatcher is responsible for the day to day logistics of the entire system including receiving and dispatching all calls for ambulance response, receiving, scheduling, and dispatching transfer requests, providing emergency medical pre-arrival instructions to emergency callers, and managing communication between our communications center and other communication centers and emergency responders. Miller EMS communications center is a busy center that will challenge the skills of the dispatcher on a daily basis.
The dispatcher must:
· be an excellent multi-tasker as multi-tasking is an essential function of the job and necessary for success.
· be capable of performing under extreme stress in which decisions regarding life and death are carried out
· possess an ability to calm excited persons
· be able to think clearly during times of chaos
· be able to operate a computer-aided dispatch system and GPS vehicle location systems after training
· be familiar with computer programs such as word and excel and be able to use them
· be able to type
· be able to answer a phone
· be able to communicate using various methods including verbal and electronic such as over the phone or radio and via text-based systems.
· be reliable and able to fulfill scheduled shift requirements
· have reliable transportation in order to be able to arrive at work for shifts
· Be able to work weekdays, weekends, nights, and holidays as required
· Complete Emergency Medical Dispatcher training and certification within 60 days of employment
