Examples of Duties:
The In-School Resource Teacher assigned to support Miller Elementary School will collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to streamline services, ensure appropriate interventions are implemented with fidelity, and monitor student progress in response to those interventions with a focus on supporting students with a wide range of learning and behavioral needs. The Resource Teacher provides targeted instructional support, models effective strategies, and assists in developing and adjusting individualized plans to meet diverse learner needs.
A typical day may include working directly with students in both general education and small-group settings, consulting with teachers on instructional practices and behavior supports, reviewing student data, and participating in team meetings. This role requires flexible thinking and willingness to problem solve complex situations and may also involve coordinating with families and service providers to ensure continuity of support, while working alongside administration.
The incumbent will expected to:
- Collaborate with administration, teachers, students, and support staff to strengthen and streamline the Student Study Team (SST) process and improve support systems to analyze student data.
- Identify instructional needs, and plan targeted interventions.
- Work closely with administration to develop strategic plans for enhancing our ESN classrooms, improving systems of support, and serving as a bridge between general education, special education, and related services to ensure cohesive and effective programming for students.
- The role may also provide behavior support and intervention strategies to help meet individual student needs effectively.
- Depending on site and student needs, both push-in and pull-out services may be provided to support student success.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Experience working in Special Education settings, particularly with students with moderate to severe disabilities, is highly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate experience in behavior intervention and support, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and implementing individualized academic and functional programming. Experience facilitating Student Study Team (SST) processes, supporting IEP implementation, and providing both push-in and pull-out services in school-based settings is desirable. Knowledge of evidence-based practices, de-escalation strategies, and inclusive support models is strongly recommended.
Licenses and Other Requirements:
Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (or replace with other accepted credential type(s)) by the closing date of the application deadline.

The examination process will consist of an application screening based on the candidate's education, work history and responses to the supplemental questions. Professional References will be contacted for candidates who are selected to proceed in the examination process. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Candidates selected to proceed in the examination process will be invited to an interview. Applicants who pass the examination process will be placed on an eligible list for a period of one school year. The eligible list will be used to fill vacancies at various school sites.
