Position Summary
The Machine Maintenance Leader supports the Maintenance Department by coordinating and performing maintenance and repair activities to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. This role assists in planning maintenance work, managing spare parts inventory, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
- Plan, coordinate, and support maintenance and repair activities for machinery and equipment.
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot equipment and machine issues to support uninterrupted production operations.
- Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment downtime and improve equipment performance.
- Support production operations through machine operation guidance and technical troubleshooting.
Equipment Reliability and Continuous Improvement
- Investigate equipment failures and quality issues and participate in Root Cause Analysis related to machine breakdowns or malfunctions.
- Assist management in implementing corrective and preventive actions to eliminate equipment-related waste and quality issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen events and process improvement projects.
Maintenance Documentation and Standards
- Prepare and maintain maintenance records, repair documentation, and related reports.
- Assist management with establishing and maintaining maintenance procedures, work instructions, and process standards.
- Ensure maintenance documentation is accurate and updated as needed.
Inventory and Budget Support
- Purchase, track, and manage machine and equipment spare parts inventory.
- Assist with providing information for maintenance budget planning and annual management planning activities.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with company safety standards and policies.
- Monitor maintenance areas to ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and support departmental safety initiatives.
Training and Team Support
- Provide training and guidance to maintenance team members as needed.
- Support cross-training of employees on equipment operation and troubleshooting.
- Maintain internal certifications for forklift and crane operation as required.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two (2) years of electrical maintenance experience required.
- One (1) year of related maintenance experience and/or training preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Competencies
Language Skills
- Ability to read, write, and prepare maintenance reports, work instructions, and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to team members and management.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to perform calculations, including ratios, percentages, and proportions.
- Ability to convert measurements between English and metric systems.
Technical and Computer Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, and Excel.
- ERP system experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of PowerPoint or other presentation software preferred.
Problem Solving and Reasoning
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and develop practical solutions.
- Ability to interpret written instructions, diagrams, schedules, and technical documentation.
