Summary
The Packaging Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing day-to-day packaging line activities to ensure products are assembled, packed, and processed accurately, safely, and efficiently.
This role serves as a working leader who supports production teams by coordinating staffing assignments, monitoring quality, training employees, and ensuring production goals are met. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You'll Do
- Review job tickets and production specifications before beginning production.
- Verify materials and components match customer and production requirements.
- Conduct first-off inspections and quality checks throughout production.
- Assign team members and temporary associates to workstations based on skill and production needs.
- Train, mentor, and support employees on packaging line processes and best practices.
- Monitor workflow, productivity, and line performance.
- Identify and address production bottlenecks and workflow challenges.
- Coordinate material replenishment to prevent interruptions in production.
- Ensure products are packaged accurately and according to specifications.
- Promote compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and company procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence efforts.
What You'll Bring
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing, packaging, printing, or production environments.
- Minimum of 1 year of leadership, lead, or supervisory experience required.
- Packaging, paper production, or print manufacturing experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and employee coaching skills.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions and job specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with manufacturing and packaging processes preferred.
