How Will You Make An Impact & Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Complete patient intakes, including vital signs, medical histories, and medication/allergy reviews.
- Assist the provider with examinations, minor procedures, wound care, and diagnostic testing.
- Perform EKGs, immunizations, and specimen collection per policy and competency standards.
- Prepare, label, and process laboratory samples and point‑of‑care tests.
- Maintain infection control, safety protocols, and equipment calibration.
- Support patient triage, care coordination, and transitions across clinical settings.
- Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, chronic conditions, and preventive care.
- Document all clinical data and provider instructions accurately in the EHR.
- Schedule and track appointments, referrals, authorizations, and test results.
- Verify insurance coverage and assist with prior authorizations, billing, and coding.
- Maintain inventory and prepare exam/procedure rooms with necessary supplies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and safety drills.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Uphold HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and all compliance standards.
- Provide excellent customer service and culturally competent care.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA)
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience required.
- Primary Care or Internal Medicine experience required.
- Dermatology experience is a plus.
- BLS certification required.
- Active MA certification and ongoing continuing education required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- EHR experience preferred; basic computer literacy required.
- Skilled in vital signs, EKGs, specimen collection, and assisting with procedures.
- Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to multitask, follow workflows, and maintain confidentiality.
- Professionalism and accountability aligned with organizational values.
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs independently (up to 50 lbs with assistance).
- Frequent repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, and fingers.
- Close visual acuity for computer work, documentation, and specimen handling.
