Millennial Software is looking for a skilled Flight Safety Orbital Analyst with expertise in orbital analysis tools, methodologies, and operational procedures. This position is located in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area.
Essential Functions
- Analyze complex problems using data-driven approaches, apply spatial and visual reasoning techniques, and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders across the organization
- Provide technical leadership for the development and improvement of Orbital Analyst prototype systems
- Create operational procedures and develop comprehensive training materials for OA prototype systems
- Deliver training sessions covering orbital analysis concepts, workflows, and emerging technologies
- Represent the team in coordination meetings with mission partners and external stakeholders
- Contribute to Program of Record documentation, ensuring orbital analysis expertise is thoroughly captured
- Flexibility for occasional work beyond standard business hours and periodic travel as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI with CI Poly
- Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field or equivalent experience
- 4 years of relevant experience (or 2 years with a Graduate Degree)
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on experience with orbital mechanics, collision avoidance, and real-world OA operations
- Proven ability to create SOPs, training materials, and job aids for government customers
- Proficiency with orbit analysis tools (STK/ODTK, ASW, FreeFlyer, OASYS, etc.)
- Deep understanding of orbit determination, differential correction, attitude estimation, ground-to-satellite communications, anomaly resolution, and the space environment
- Comfortable working in Windows and Linux environments
