What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Assistant position at Millcroft Living?
Millcroft Living is looking for an Activity Assistant/ Community Life Services Coordinator to join our team. The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Community Life Services with the overall planning and implementation of varied activity and educational programs designed to meet the requirements of the LCS Lifestyles and Health Services and 8 Dimensions of Wellness. Schedule: Mon-Fri and Every Other Weekend 9am-7pm shift varies depending on activities planned that week.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Assists with planning and coordinating activities and events, discussion groups & clubs, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, off-property trips, special events, IT support, in-house movies, instructional courses; such as, arts & crafts, seminars, workshops, presentations; Active Aging Week, health & fitness activities, customized activities for Alzheimer/Dementia and Parkinson affected residents, marketing events, holiday parties; etc.
2. Assists with preparing and distributing the monthly calendar, weekly reminder, event flyers and newsletter
3. Assists with purchasing supplies for activities as needed
4. Directs the movement of residents to and from on-property & off-property events
5. Directs volunteer activities and provides training
6. Maintains accurate documentation of resident’s activity attendance
7. Researches upcoming events and trips
8. Coordinates transportation services with our residents, Health Center staff and Health Navigator
9. Data input of resident documentation in our EMR system, Vision.
10. Flexibility of hours-will involve nights and weekends
Other Duties:
1. Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned. Must be CPR, AED and First Aid certified.
2. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Normally works in well-lighted, comfortable surroundings and will visit each of the communities on a regular basis. May also travel to local referral resources as needed. Must be able to concentrate with frequent interruptions. Must be able to sit for up to 95% of the workday. Must be able to bend and stoop. Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds independently.
