What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatch position at Millcreek lumber?
Under general supervision coordinates components and merchandise for delivery or pickup, schedules and assigns deliveries, and maintains records related to delivery and customer receipt.
- Assigns drivers and vehicles to convey customer orders according to desired or anticipated delivery schedule.
- Confers with customers and/or sales staff to determine desired delivery times.
- Creates daily/weekly schedule to assist drivers and warehouse staff in planning their work activities.
- Invoices all orders shipped in accordance with what is requested.
- Coordinates flow of orders to be produced.
- Responsible for checking loads to ensure accuracy and proper load securement.
- Responsible for assisting dock personnel in the checking in of returned goods properly and accurately.
- Assists dock personnel with pulling & loading material as needed.
- Responds to customers and/or sales staff complaints/concerns regarding deliveries.
- Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers.
- Attends periodic safety meetings as required. May recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned.
