VACANCY NOTICE: April 10, 2026 CLOSING: Until filledOPENING For 2026 - 2027 SCHOOL YEARColor Guard DirectorDESCRIPTION: Millbury High School is seeking a Color Guard Director for the 2026-2027 school year to design, teach, and direct the color guard for the fall marching program (August through November) and the winter indoor program (December through March).QUALIFICATIONS: 2-3 years of experience performing in a high-level color guard (college and/or WGI or DCI experience preferred)Experience working with students of varying ages, abilities, and backgrounds, including students with no prior experienceKnowledge of and experience with a variety of color guard equipment, including flag, swing flag, rifle, and saberGENERAL DUTIES: Design and teach engaging choreography and flag/weapon work for the fall marching seasonTeach flag, rifle, saber, and dance technique to students with varying skill levelsLead rehearsals and coordinate all aspects of the color guard programCollaborate with band staff on show design and overall visual packageBuild a positive, inclusive, and high-energy environment for studentsAttend band camp, rehearsals, and performances, actively participating in assisting students in sectionals and whole-group rehearsalsOrganize and lead sectionals (working with student captains to help develop their leadership skills)Assist in repair and maintenance of color guard equipment and inventoryRecommend new equipment purchases for the color guard (within budget allocations)REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Band DirectorSALARY: This position will be paid by two stipends (fall and winter season) as allocated in the Millbury Teachers Association contract: $1,843 for EACH season, $3,686 totalWORK YEAR: Band Camp August 12th-14th and 17th-21stRehearsals Tuesdays/Thursdays 4-6 PM and Saturdays 8:30-12 throughout season (8/29-10/31)Four weekend competitions in October/early November (dates TBD)Some Sunday events/competitions TBDLETTER OF APPLICATION: A cover letter, resume, copy of college transcripts, copy of licensure, and three letters of reference should be sent to: Christopher Lowe, PrincipalMillbury Jr./Sr. High School12 Martin StreetMillbury, MA 01527(**Applications not submitted through SchoolSpring will not be processed.**)
