Girls Varsity Soccer Head Coach

REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics

STATUS: Exempt, salary position

Position Summary: Millbrook School is seeking a girls head soccer coach at the varsity level. Athletic spaces, across all levels, are considered classrooms and are an integral part of Millbrook’s mission. All teams within the Millbrook athletic department teach character development, integrity, physical fitness, sportsmanship, competitive drive, and teamwork while amplifying school spirit.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the girls varsity soccer program with a focus on creating a positive team culture.
  • Develop the student-athletes both on and off the field.
  • Provide daily feedback to both the team and to specific student-athletes.
  • Help to manage the logistics of the entire program from running daily practices to game day logistics.
  • Assist and help with the college placement of the student-athletes.
  • Manage and support the assistant coaching staff.
  • Recruit prospective student athletes.
  • Attend all NEPSAC soccer meetings.
  • Possess and maintain a coaching philosophy that is in accordance with Millbrook’s core values and mission.

Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching experience at the high school or club soccer level is preferred.
  • The ability to demonstrate and teach the game of soccer to high school students whose goal is to play at the collegiate level.
  • The ability to communicate clearly with high school athletes and with other coaches.
  • The ability to grow and foster teamwork.
  • The ability to hold student-athletes accountable in a meaningful and thoughtful manner which focuses on their growth as an individual.
  • Energetic self-starter in addressing all details of leading a competitive high school program.
  • A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept.

Physical & Sensory Requirements:

  • Ability to demonstrate exercises.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to work in person, on campus.
  • Must be flexible and willing to adapt to new technology, teaching methods and/or schedules.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., without restrictions.
  • Must be willing & able to travel & attend sporting events on nights and weekends.
  • Faculty members must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Working Conditions:

  • Regular exposure to outside weather conditions.

Compensation:

  • FLSA: Exempt part-time
  • Salary Range: $3,000 - $6,000/season commensurate with length of season, number of off-campus competitions, and size of the team.When determining placement in the salary range, Millbrook School considers education, licensure, total experience, and other factors permitted by law.
  • Schedule: Work roughly 14-16 hours per week for the duration of the season
  • Season Dates: September 7 – November 13, 2026 (When school is in session)

Most Millbrook coaches also teach, coach additional teams, serve as an advisor, and support students in other capacities on campus. Were a candidate's skills aligned with openings in other departments, this could become part of a full-time position.
