Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Yard Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the yard, ensuring that all freight is handled properly. This position requires a strong understanding of various types of vehicles, including tractor-trailers, and refrigerated trailers. The Yard Driver plays a crucial role in maintaining the flow of operations and supporting our commitment to exceptional service.
YARD TIME IS FROM 11pm to 7am
Responsibilities
- Safely operate yard trucks to move trailers in and out of designated areas.
- Perform routine inspections on vehicles and trailers to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Assist with route driving when needed, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Operate various types of trucks including roll-off trucks, tankers, and those with manual and auto transmissions.
- Maintain organization within the yard to facilitate efficient operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding trailer movements and any issues that arise.
Experience
- Proven experience driving tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty vehicles is preferred.
- Familiarity with load unloading procedures and freight handling techniques.
- Experience operating refrigerated trailers, or tankers is a plus.
- Strong understanding of route driving and logistics operations.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
