SUPERVISED BY: Building Principals w/ Director of Student Services
BASIC FUNCTION: The ELL Teacher shall administer assessments and provide direct instruction to identified students in grades
K-12 in order to support each student’s acquisition of the English language.
WORKS WITH: Parents/Guardians, Students, Administration, Faculty & Staff, and Community/State-Level Resource Providers
COMPENSATION
RANGE: As based on the union-negotiated salary placement schedule for teachers, which is based on 1.0 FTE:
$48,082 - $89,758
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate shall:
1. Possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in English, teaching, or a related field;
2. Hold a TESOL certificate;
3. Hold an endorsement from the Vermont Agency of Education, or demonstrate eligibility for such, in the area of Multilingual Learning or other licensure area deemed acceptable by the VT AOE;
4. Demonstrate evidence of the ability to provide high-quality instruction and assessment practices to learners spanning grades K-12;
5. Demonstrate evidence of the ability to collaborate closely and continuously with members of each student’s educational team;
6. Complete the process to achieve certification required to administer the WIDA Screener and all forms of the WIDA ACCESS Test;
7. Demonstrate evidence of the ability to work collaboratively with parents/guardians as well as other resource providers in order to facilitate active engagement in each child’s education;
8. Demonstrate evidence of the integration of technology to meet student needs.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Administer the WIDA Screener to new students entering the District who are identified as potential ELL students.
2. Administer and carry out all parts of the annual WIDA testing process.
3. Develop and implement a schedule for providing ELL services to all eligible students in grades K-12.
4. Attend periodic meetings of each child’s educational team in order to report on progress and needs and to provide consult to the team when needed.
5. Engage in ongoing collaboration and consultation with classroom and content-area teachers regarding student needs, progress, and the implementation of appropriate supports.
6. Other responsibilities associated with the position as designated by the Administration.
