What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager - Vacation Rentals position at Mill Pond Vacation Rentals?
Help lead a team. Make a difference. Grow with us.
Mill Pond Realty has been part of the West Michigan real estate community since 1991 and has been managing vacation rentals since 1992. We've built our business on long-term relationships, exceptional service, and a commitment to doing right by our homeowners and guests.
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on leader to help keep our vacation rental operations running smoothly. This person will bring organization, accountability, and consistency to our day-to-day business while supporting our team and ensuring our homeowners and guests receive the level of service they expect.
If you're someone who takes ownership, communicates well, and makes sure things get done right, we'd love to meet you.
About the Role
Working closely with senior management, the Vacation Rental Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day coordination of our vacation rental business and help keep our team organized, informed, and on track.
We're looking for an integrator — someone who can take direction and priorities and turn them into action. You'll help ensure responsibilities are clear, established processes are followed, outstanding items are addressed, and commitments are carried through to completion.
You don't need to know everything on day one, but you do need to ask questions, communicate proactively, and take responsibility for seeing things through.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support the team. Set expectations, provide direction, and promote accountability and teamwork.
- Keep operations on track. Coordinate the moving parts of our vacation rental business and ensure day-to-day responsibilities are handled.
- Follow through. Keep track of outstanding items, follow up with the appropriate people, and make sure tasks are completed fully and on time.
- Communicate consistently. Keep senior management and team members informed, address issues directly, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
- Handle challenges. Use good judgment, take initiative, and know when to make a decision and when to ask for guidance.
- Maintain our service standards. Help ensure our homeowners, guests, and team members receive professional, responsive, and dependable service.
What We're Looking For
- Previous management or supervisory experience in hospitality is required. Vacation rental or hotel experience is strongly preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a professional approach to working with people.
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability. You follow up, close the loop, and see things through to completion.
- The ability to lead people, set expectations, and address issues constructively.
- A willingness to ask questions, learn our established processes, and follow through rather than make assumptions.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and remain calm when unexpected challenges arise.
- Comfortable learning reservation systems and other technology.
