What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Jockey position at Milkco?
Milkco is seeking a 2nd Shift Switcher Driver and a 3rd Shift Switcher Driver to work in our shipping yard. Our switcher drivers work right here in Asheville, so you are home every day, after every shift.
The 2nd Shift work schedule runs on a two-week cycle:
Week 1 - Monday: 12:00pm - 8:30pm; Tuesday: 7:00am - 3:30pm; Wednesday thru Friday: 12:00pm - 8:30pm; Saturday thru Sunday: Off
Week 2 - Monday: 12:00pm -8:30pm; Tuesday: Off; Wednesday thru Friday: 12:00pm - 8:30pm; Saturday: 7:00am - 3:30pm; Sunday: Off
The 3rd Shift work schedule runs on a two-week cycle:
Week 1 - Tuesday thru Thursday: 7:00pm - 5:30am; Saturday: 12:00pm - 10:30pm; Sunday, Monday, Friday: Off
Week 2 - Sunday: 4:00pm - 2:30am; Monday: 7:00pm - 5:30am; Tuesday thru Wednesday: Off; Thursday thru Friday: 7:00pm - 5:30am; Saturday: Off
The Switcher Driver is responsible for:
- Moving trailers around the shipping yard.
- Recording trailer temperatures and yard inventory.
- Washing trailers.
- General shipping yard management.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be self-motivated to do whatever needs to be done each day.
- Be punctual and reliable.

Compensation Information:
- Automatic 60-Day Pay Review
- Automatic Annual Pay Review
- Shift Differential
- Milkco will pay for MEC renewal at anytime and a CDL renewal after 1 yr. (A CDL License is not required.)
Employment Requirements:
- Must pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening (provided by Milkco).
- Will conduct a Criminal Background Check.
- Must pass an E-Verify Screening.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work outdoors in variable weather.
Experience
- Prefer that applicants have at least 1 year of truck driving experience.
- Prefer that applicants have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must want to work and have excellent attendance.
- Need to be cooperative and able to get along with a lot of people.
- Must be a team player with the ability to contribute in a team atmosphere
