What are the responsibilities and job description for the Military Service - U.S. Space Force, Acquisition Manager position at Military Service - U.S. Space Force?

Position Summary

Every breakthrough in space starts long before launch. It starts with the people who turn ideas into capabilities.

As an Acquisition Manager, you’ll lead the planning, development, and delivery of the advanced technologies the Space Force relies on to stay ahead. Working with military leaders, industry partners, and government agencies, you’ll help bring new systems from concept to reality while ensuring Guardians have the tools they need to succeed.

If you’re ready to solve complex challenges and shape the future of national security, you’ll play a key role in building tomorrow’s Space Force.

Career Duties

  • Lead the planning and development of Space Force acquisition programs.
  • Manage the lifecycle of advanced space systems and technologies.
  • Coordinate with military, government, and industry partners.
  • Oversee program cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Evaluate new technologies to support future missions.
  • Deliver capabilities that strengthen national security.

Benefits

BASE SALARY

Every active-duty Guardian is paid equally based on rank and years of service. From the moment you put on your uniform, you’re eligible for additional compensation based on your job and station.

INSURANCE

Guardians and their families receive top-of-the-line, low-rate insurance plans. Each has comprehensive medical and dental care at military or civilian facilities. Additionally, we provide full pay and allowances for sick days and life insurance.

RETIREMENT

Guardians receive a generous retirement plan within the Blended Retirement System. The benefits are similar to many civilian 401(k) plans with employer-matched contributions. This plan combines two main sources of retirement savings: a monthly retirement income for Guardians who serve a minimum of 20 years and the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), which includes automatic and matching government contributions.

RECREATION

Most Space Force bases are equipped with golf courses, tennis courts, swimming pools, full-service gyms, and arts-and-crafts facilities. All are either free to use or are available at lower rates than similar facilities off base.

VACATION AND TRAVEL

All Space Force Guardians get 30 days of vacation with pay per year. They can travel on Air Force aircraft to almost any U.S. state and many international destinations. Additionally, for destinations near military facilities, Guardians qualify for reduced-rate hotel lodging.

EDUCATION

Joining the Space Force offers a wide range of educational opportunities, including scholarships for Guardians who wish to pursue ongoing education. Guardians can receive up to 100 percent tuition assistance through the Air Force Tuition Assistance Program, the Montgomery GI Bill, or Post-9/11 GI Bill. Members select which option to take based on what’s best for them.

Qualifications

This job requires military service with a contract as a commissioned officer in the United States Space Force. The application is for a specific position within the United States Space Force.

MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of program management procedures for the system being acquired
  • Completion of Space Force qualifying acquisition courses
