Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Asphalt Supervisor/Paver Operator to lead our paving crew and operate our asphalt paver on residential, commercial, and municipal paving projects throughout Northeast Ohio.
We're seeking a hands-on leader who takes pride in producing smooth, high-quality asphalt surfaces while maintaining a safe, productive, and positive work environment. This individual will be responsible for leading the paving crew, coordinating with trucking and roller operators, and ensuring every project meets our high standards for quality and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain an asphalt paver.
- Lead and supervise the paving crew on a daily basis.
- Plan and coordinate paving operations with project management.
- Ensure proper asphalt placement, joint construction, mat thickness, and surface smoothness.
- Work closely with excavation crews to ensure proper site preparation before paving.
- Coordinate with dump truck drivers, roller operators, laborers, and milling crews.
- Monitor paving temperatures, material consistency, and production rates.
- Read blueprints, job specifications, and paving layouts.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce OSHA safety standards.
- Train and mentor crew members.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Complete daily production reports and job documentation.
- Communicate professionally with customers, inspectors, suppliers, and management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
- Assist with other asphalt maintenance operations, including patching, milling, and miscellaneous paving work as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of asphalt paving experience.
- Previous experience as a Paver Operator required.
- Supervisory or Foreman experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of asphalt paving procedures, grading, and compaction.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and project specifications.
- Experience coordinating paving crews and equipment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues in the field and make sound decisions.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Willingness to work overtime and Saturdays during the construction season.
