Position: Title III Parent Liaison (Portuguese) - Title III Funded- one-year position Location: Districtwide/Family Resource Center Schedule:2026-2027 School Year (35 hours per week) Salary: $24.65/hour To Start: Monday, August 24, 2026 Qualifications: Fluently bilingual (listening and speaking) and biliterate (reading and writing): English and Portuguese required; Completion of the 2-hour online Tier 1 Language Ambassador Training Course, certificate required upon hire; Completion of Tier 2 Interpreting in the Education Setting, required within the first year of hire; Completion of Tier 3 Advanced Interpreting in the Education Setting, required within the first/second year of hire; Fluently bilingual (listening and speaking) and biliterate (reading and writing): English and Portuguese required: Proof of proficiency in the Target language, as aligned to DESE Guidance for the Provision of Interpreters in the Education Setting (p.8), required within the first year of employment. Training/certification in secretarial and/or office administration or a combination of education and experience required; Excellent written/oral communication skills, including phone and/or customer service; Experience with Aspen, Google Suite, Talking Points, and Zoom; Strong documentation, organizational, and prioritization skills; Excellent ability to manage multiple tasks and competing demands; Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment; Experience in working with community organizations, professionals, and multilingual families; Working knowledge of current principles in family engagement; Experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative professional relationships; Excellent organizational problem-solving skills and willingness to learn; and Comfortable speaking in front of professionals, parents, and community members. Responsibilities: The following parent liaison duties are completed in English and/or the targeted language, as appropriate: welcome families to the district and answer any questions they may have regarding their child’s education; make wellness phone calls to parents when children are not in attendance at school and/or are ill at school; support families in completing documents related to school and school enrollment; assist new students and families with the transition to school (i.e., building-based intake meetings); provide outreach to parents of Title III school-aged children; provide oral interpretation and support for families at school events, parent conferences, and other school activities; provide parents with school resources and information regarding school and district programs and initiatives; ensures that school-to-home communications are received and understood by parents; respond to the informational needs and requests of English learner families; coordinate efforts to increase the quality, quantity, and access of parenting education services; assist with Title III workshops and presentations for parents/guardians on topics related to Family Engagement and Involvement (i.e., an overview of education in the U.S., what to ask/expect at parent conferences, school building tours, WIDA ACCESS, technology platforms adopted by the district, etc.); make phone calls, create invites, and increase communication efforts for Title III families; assist varying Family Welcome Center colleagues with interpretation and translation; and perform duties as assigned by the EL Program & Welcome Center Director, in partnership with the District-wide Translation/Interpretation Coordinator.
