Dean of Students (2 positions)

Position: Dean of Students (2) Location: Milford High School Schedule: 2026-2027 School Year Salary: Per Teacher's Contract To Start: August 24, 2026 (plus two mentoring days prior to start date) Qualifications: ●Massachusetts DESE licensure required; Principal/Assistant Principal licensure or eligibility preferred ●Master’s Degree in Education, School Counseling, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred ●Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of successful experience working with high school students ●Strong knowledge of child development, adolescent behavior, and social-emotional learning ●Experience with restorative practices or similar positive behavioral frameworks ●Familiarity with MTSS processes and student support team structures ●Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff ●Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred ●Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills ●Commitment to equity, inclusion, and high expectations for all students ●Completion of the 2-hour online Language Ambassador Training Course, certificate required upon hire ●Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred oProof of proficiency in the Target language, as aligned to DESE Guidance for the Provision of Interpreters in the Education Setting (p.8), required within the first year of employment. The following items are completed in English and/or the targeted language, as appropriate: Requirements: ●Serve as the primary point of contact for student behavioral concerns, responding promptly, fairly, and with a developmentally appropriate lens ●Implement the school’s Code of Conduct through instructional and restorative approaches that teach and reinforce positive behavior ●Facilitate conflict resolution, peer mediation, and restorative conversations between students ●Refer serious disciplinary matters to the Principal and collaborate on appropriate responses ●Develop and implement individualized behavioral support plans in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and special education staff ●Promote a positive school culture grounded in social-emotional learning, positive reinforcement, and relationship-based practices where students feel connected and motivated to attend school daily ●Support students’ development of self-regulation, social skills, and problem-solving through direct instruction and coaching ●Collaborate with school counselors, psychologists, and special education staff to support students through Student Support Team (SST) and MTSS processes ●Facilitate and/or participate in family meetings, SST/MTSS meetings, and other conferences related to student support ●Serve as a caring, visible adult presence who builds strong, trusting relationships with students throughout the school day ●Monitor student attendance data daily and identify patterns of chronic absenteeism or early disengagement ●Collaborate with families, teachers, and support staff to address attendance concerns through outreach, early intervention, and individualized support plans ●Coordinate with the Principal and district attendance personnel to ensure timely and appropriate follow-up for students with attendance concerns ●Provide active, engaged supervision of students throughout the school day, including hallways, cafeteria, playgrounds, and other common areas ●Oversee morning arrival and afternoon dismissal routines to ensure safe and orderly transitions ●Assist with transportation oversight, including bus arrivals and departures and communication with bus drivers regarding student concerns ●Support safety planning, participate in safety drills, and assist in emergency response procedures ●Build and maintain regular, proactive communication with families regarding student behavior, attendance, and social-emotional progress with cultural responsiveness and respect ●Connect families with school and community resources to support student well-being ●Assist with daily school operations, coverage, and administrative duties as assigned by the Principal, Associate Principal, and/or Assistant Principals ●Maintain required records, data, and documentation related to student behavior, attendance,interventions and state reporting requirements ●Participation in initial and annual recertification of a de-escalation methodology program. ●Provide immediate intervention and de-escalation during student crisis situations involving challenging behaviors.
