Position: Full-Time, Pastoral Staff
OVERVIEW
The Connections Pastor will lead the mission of helping people Know Christ, Grow in Christ, and Go for Christ (Know, Grow, Go) by leading the church’s efforts in evangelism, assimilation, discipleship.
He will work closely with the Senior Pastor to cultivate a welcoming, relational culture and strategically utilize the church gym to build bridges to the community and strengthen fellowship within the church.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Evangelism & Community Engagement
- Develop, equip, and mobilize members for personal evangelism and Gospel conversations.
- Lead church-wide evangelism efforts: outreach events, neighborhood engagement, prayer walking, and follow-up with guests.
- Strategically use the church gym for community outreach—hosting sports leagues, open gym nights, community events, and relational evangelistic opportunities.
- Build partnerships with local schools, organizations, and families to create pathways for Gospel influence.
2. Assimilation & Guest Connection
- Oversee and continually strengthen the church’s guest experience from first visit to full involvement.
- Lead and grow the Greeter, Welcome, and Hospitality Teams.
- Implement a clear and effective assimilation pathway—guest follow-up, connection events, and volunteer opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of guest engagement and help identify trends and follow-up needs.
- Ensure guests experience connection at every point.
3. Discipleship & Spiritual Growth Pathways
- Oversee and strengthen Life Groups/Small Groups, Sunday School, and midweek discipleship opportunities.
- Recruit, train, and support teachers, leaders, and group facilitators.
- Work with the pastoral team to develop a comprehensive discipleship strategy—from new believers to mature followers.
- Provide leadership in areas such as new believer mentoring, men’s/ladies ministry, and leadership pipeline development.
- Help create a culture where every member knows their next step in spiritual growth.
4. Gym & Activities Ministry (in cooperation with other staff)
- Oversee the calendar, scheduling, and safe operation of the gym.
- Develop programs that foster fellowship within the church:
- Church basketball/volleyball/ pickleball nights
- Camily events
- Men/Ladies fellowship gatherings
- Student and children’s activity nights
- Lead community-facing gym ministries—sports camps, leagues, outreach events, and open gym opportunities.
- Equip volunteers to lead recreational and fellowship events with Gospel intentionality.
- Ensure the gym environment reflects the church’s mission and values.
5. Pastoral & Administrative Responsibilities
- Provide general pastoral care, counseling, and support to members as needed.
- Participate in preaching/teaching rotation as requested.
- Attend staff meetings and collaborate with pastoral team for planning and ministry development.
- Uphold and model the biblical qualifications of a pastor as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
- Support the mission, doctrine, and direction of the Southern Baptist Convention.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Committed follower of Jesus Christ.
- Meets the biblical qualifications of a pastor.
- Experience in evangelism, discipleship, or pastoral ministries (preferably in a church of similar size or larger).
- Strong relational skills.
- Ability to recruit, train, and mobilize volunteers.
- Organizational ability to manage events.
- Comfortable using technology, data systems, and communication tools.
- Heart for building relationships through recreational ministry is a strong plus.
