Position Summary

The Water Treatment Supervisor provides office and field support to the EHS&S Department. This position oversees the operation, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements required for all onsite stormwater treatment facilities and groundwater remediation discharges. As an EHS&S team member, this position ensures that all aspects of the various water treatment operations comply with all applicable environmental regulatory and internal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure water treatment equipment is operated and maintained to assure compliance with all applicable NJPDES permit requirements;
• Supervise the Water Department Operators, including the schedule and approval of overtime as required;
• Perform a variety of monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements to maintain compliance with the facility’s NJPDES permit. These efforts include, but are not limited to: manage the sampling and analysis of influent and effluent in accordance with appropriate NJPDES permit conditions and maintain records in accordance with appropriate NJPDES permit and internal policies, and prepare and submit all Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs)
• Develop, as necessary, written manuals and procedures for the safe and compliant operation of water treatment assets.
• Perform job site safety inspections and any applicable field inspections related to compliance with the NJPDES permit;
• Manage the proper characterization and disposal of wastes, or recovery of slop oils, generated by the treatment process;
• Manage and/or participate in regulatory agency inspections, customer audits, and internal audits;
• Prepare and submit permit applications and modifications, as needed;
• Maintain applicable Lab certifications; and
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Education and Experience

• New Jersey State Certification (N-3 or N-4 Preferred) in Industrial Wastewater Treatment;
• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental studies, ecological sciences, or another related technical field preferred;
• 5 years of practical experience with industrial NJPDES programs;
• Valid Driver’s License
• Experience with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.);
• Ability to acquire a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to company locations.

Skills and Abilities

• Good organizational skills and attention to detail;
• Knowledge of basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions);
• Knowledge of basic and advanced chemical/petroleum industry parameters including but not limited to flash point, boiling point, pH, solubility, and density;
• Proficient in Microsoft Applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Powerpoint;
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language;
• Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language;
• Ability to make decisions in a variable environment;
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment;
• Ability to work closely with others with a positive attitude and a willingness to help others;
• Ability to represent the company in a professional and positive manner; and
• Ability to interact with vendors, service providers, and employees in a professional and courteous manner.

Hours of Work

• Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
• This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand
• This position requires the ability to always respond and be available for contact
• Occasional travel may be necessary

• The ability to see (20/20) and hear either naturally or through the use of corrective lenses or hearing aids.
• The ability to wear a respirator as certified through a medical evaluation by a licensed physician.
