Position Summary
The part-time Accountant must be available to work an estimated 25 hours per week (with flexibility in scheduling). Key aspects of this vital role include:
- Perform general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
- Prepare periodic (quarterly) balance sheets and other financial statements.
- Maintain the general ledger.
- Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books.
- Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, make transfers, and address any inquiries.
- Handle all accounts payable transactions and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Process semi-monthly payroll for 15 employees.
Other similar duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and QuickBooks Online.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of the MPCS team.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years accounting experience required.
