What You’ll Do

As Senior Software Engineering Manager, you’ll lead our development discipline across full-stack web, custom applications, and enterprise website products. You’ll manage a growing team of engineers and serve as both a technical lead and people leader—ensuring Mile6’s dev work remains efficient, scalable, and joyful to build. You’ll help unify best practices, mentor developers at all levels, and oversee the quality of our technical execution across product lines.

You’ll work closely with product owners, strategists, and designers to scope work, estimate accurately, and deliver outstanding digital experiences for our clients. You’ll also contribute directly to projects as a lead engineer—especially when architecting complex systems or breaking new technical ground. This role reports directly to the President of Mile6.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of full stack, UX, and front-end application engineers
  • Own and evolve Mile6’s development standards, workflows, tools, and code quality practices including the SDLC

  • Scope new projects and participate in estimating, technical discovery, and solution architecture
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Design, Strategy) and client stakeholders
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, provide feedback, and build personalized growth paths for developers
  • Spearhead the integration of AI and LLMs into Mile6’s digital product offerings—identifying automation opportunities, enhancing user and developer experiences, and building scalable, AI-powered solutions for clients across industries.
  • Serve as an internal AI/LLM expert and innovation lead—researching emerging tools, building internal prototypes, and advising cross-functional teams on ethical, impactful, and cost-effective AI implementation strategies.
  • Guide architecture decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and ensure thoughtful use of technologies
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of cloud-based environments (e.g., RDS, S3, EC2, Lambda)
  • Develop hybrid mobile apps using Ionic, React Native, or similar frameworks
  • Participate in agile ceremonies: sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives
  • Maintain and enhance legacy applications while reducing technical debt
  • Stay current with emerging tools, languages, and best practices in web, mobile, and DevOps
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and team scaling as the department grows

Required Qualifications

  • 8 years of hands-on development experience (Laravel, PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript, API design, Python, mobile)
