Early Childhood Assistant Teacher – Preschool Transition Program (Job Summary)
Schedule: M-F 10:00AM-6:00PM
Educational Requirements: Minimum: CDA Certification
If a High school diploma is your highest level of education, a minimum of 2 years in Early Childhood experience will be required.
Training in/experience with the Creative Curriculum a plus.
Primary Functions:
- To assist the Teacher with given groups of children and staff for the purpose of carrying out a program consistent with the philosophy of the Mile Square Early Learning Center, which takes into account the social, emotional, cognitive, perceptual, health and safety of the individual child and the group. *
- To ensure that the classroom is kept clean and in good order. *
Job Responsibilities:
- To assist the teacher in creating a warm and stimulating environment for children to learn.
- To assist the teacher in assessing the needs and capabilities of each child.
- To assist the teacher in planning and executing daily activities appropriate to each child’s level of cognitive and physical development.
- To assist children with daily routines, dressing, bathroom routine, washing, eating, napping, realizing that young children often need help in such tasks. Depending on the age and development of the child, bathroom routine may include changing diapers or pull-ups and potty training.
- To ensure the general welfare of the children in terms of health and safety as specified in DYFS Manual of standards.
- To assist with the clean up of special projects as well as general clean up of the room at designated times of the day. This includes after breakfast, after lunch, snack or art activities, Friday cleaning of cots as per schedule, cleaning of cubbies, and cleaning of a spill, etc.
- To help organize games, supervise play indoors, outdoors, and in the gym during park/playground activities as well as walks.
- To be aware of and capable of assisting in the planning and implementing of daily lessons especially in the absence of the teacher (Group), to take responsibility to write accident reports and maintain general schedule.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.50 per hour
