Position Summary: The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for maintaining real-time inventory accuracy, material flow integrity, and storage optimization within a fast‑paced ice manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting production scheduling while adapting to frequent last‑minute order changes that require exceptional communication, attention to detail, and cross‑functional coordination.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, data-driven, and comfortable holding peers and other departments accountable to standard work especially when material usage is not reported, Kanban signals are missed, or inventory processes break down.

Key Responsibilities

 

Inventory Accuracy & Control

 

  • Own and maintain inventory accuracy across all material types, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Lead storage location maintenance, realignment, and consumption analysis to ensure system integrity.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve negative inventory, sheet metal equipment (Material Vendor (MV)) reconciliation issues, and inventory variances.
  • Own Excess & Obsolete (E&O) inventory, including root cause analysis, reporting, and mitigation plans.
  • Perform and oversee material movements, system adjustments, and storage location definitions to support operational accuracy.

 

Leadership & Team Management

 

  • Supervise, train and oversee cycle counters and the receiving department
  • Establish performance expectations and conduct regular evaluations.
  • Develop team capability in inventory accuracy, safety practices, and process adherence.

 

Process Definition & Standard Work

 

  • Define, document, and enforce standard work for inventory control processes.
  • Manage and improve Kanban systems, including receiving dock lanes and card accuracy.
  • Partner with Material Handling and Production to ensure material pulls, usage reporting, and replenishment signals are executed correctly.
  • Escalate recurring process gaps and non-compliance to appropriate department leadership with data supported recommendations.

 

Storage & Space Optimization

 

  • Conduct overall storage evaluations to maximize efficiency and safety.
  • Optimize storage solutions across external locations, 3PL warehouses, trailers, and containers.
  • Support trailer/container optimization to reduce down time and improve logistics flow.

 

Logistics & Operational Support

 

  • Serve as a logistics backup for shipping as needed.
  • Support inbound and outbound material flow to ensure production and customer commitments are met.
  • Maintain awareness during last-minute schedule changes or unexpected orders, adjusting inventory priorities accordingly.

 

Cross-Functional Communication & Accountability

 

  • Act as a key liaison between Inventory Control, Planning, Production, Procurement, Logistics, and Material Handling.
  • Proactively communicate risks, shortages, and process breakdowns.
  • Confidently bring issues—such as missed pulls, unreported usage, or process non-adherence—to managers of other departments in a professional, solution-oriented manner.
  • Participate in daily operations meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Safety & Physical Requirements

 

  • Work in a production floor / warehouse environment with ongoing movement and activity.
  • Remain on feet for 8–10 hours per day, walking, standing, climbing in and out of yard equipment, and working outdoors as needed.
  • Follow all safety, PPE, and equipment operation standards.

Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

 

 

 

Experience

 

  • 3–5 years of experience in inventory control, materials management, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Inventory management systems (ERP/MRP)
  • Consumption analysis and reconciliation
  • Kanban and pull-based systems
  • Storage and space optimization
  • Proven ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and drive corrective action.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend and move throughout the facility for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and move up to company‑defined weight limits as needed.
  • Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of materials or equipment for up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular use of computers, handheld device, and inventory systems for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to safely navigate manufacturing and testing environments, including climbing stairs or ladders and wearing required PPE.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual base salary for this position is $65,000 - $74,000 annually, based on market data for the Denver Metro Area. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, 401K, paid time off (PTO), and other company-sponsored programs. In addition to the base salary this position is eligible for an annual profit-sharing bonus.
