Behavioral Health Therapist - SPMI

SUMMARY: Provide direct mental health assessments and treatment to individuals who struggle with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and co-occurring substance use disorders. The therapist will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team who participates in regular team and treatment planning meetings. This mental health professionals will provide direct services to the clients with severe and persistent mental illness, along with engaging with the client’s natural support systems.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Deliberately provides individual and group psychotherapy as specified (ie. CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused) in consultation with clients or site administrators to meet client's goals and objectives.
• Provides psychoeducation, family support and education to consumers and their natural support systems to work on symptom management, improve family relationships and increase client autonomy.

· Maintain accurate and timely clinical records consistent with Medicaid, private insurance and the Behavioral Health Administrative Service organizations (BHASO)’s standards in all areas including, but not limited to: admission summaries, assessments, daily charting, weekly clinical staffing notes, and discharge summaries within the agency electronic health record system (EHR). Adhering to mandatory deadlines.

· Maintain weekly relationships of the patients assigned to you in the active caseload for billable services.

• Will instruct, assist, and support consumers in developing basic living and social skill areas that are essential for independent living including: interpersonal communications; community resource utilization and integration; relapse prevention; budgeting; healthy lifestyle skills and practices; transportation; medication monitoring; symptom management; employment related skills and transitioning to community living.
• Provide ongoing assessment of consumers’ mental health and substance use symptoms as well as their response to treatment provided. Will be responsible for adapting treatment plans as needed to ensure immediate and appropriate interventions are provided in response to changes in mental status or behavior which put clients at risk.
• Provide community intervention services to alleviate or reduce a client’s barriers to community integration or independent living and to minimize the risk of hospitalization or placement in a more restrictive setting.
• Act as liaison and consult with families and community agencies to maintain coordination of the client’s treatment process.
• Participation in On-Call rotation for ACT Program non-business hours to include some evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Assist clients in accessing community support services, and supervisory sessions as required, including transportation if appropriate.
• Collect relevant data for ongoing program evaluation and overseeing program volunteers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Knowledge of methods of psychotherapy

· Knowledge of community resources

· Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately

· Familiarity with the DSM V and diagnostic techniques

· Effective written and verbal communication skills

· Good rapport with the client population

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Master’s degree in counseling, psychology or social work experience required;

· Experience working with persons from the population of focus (SPMI, Co-Occuring Substance Misuse)

· LPC/LCSW license is preferred

· CAS/CAT/LAC license is preferred

· Case management experience and experience creating and maintaining treatment and recovery plans are preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to work flexible and on-call hours which may be required

· Valid Driver’s License and car insurance by date of hire

· Ability to undergo background check due to caring for children, adolescents and families.

· Some travel around the Denver Metro Area

· Some evening and weekend work for events

· This is a full-time in office position (40 hours a week).
