Schedules Available: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period; Monday - Friday

Weekend rotation: No weekends

Holiday rotation: Paid Time Off

Position Summary:

The Health Information Assistant position, under the general supervision of the Health Information Supervisor, supports medical staff providers and customers of the Health Information department with day-to-day operational activities such as preparing records and release of information for patient care requests. Responsible for monitoring the electronic health record completion including assisting providers with record completion standards and requirements. This role is responsible for scanning paper documents and maintaining the patient health record portal.

Position Responsibilities:

• Scan paper records into the electronic health record.
• Route documents to the provider electronically.
• Assist with troubleshooting scanners and scanning application.
• Assist scheduled hospital/clinic rounds, which involves picking up, delivering and sorting of documentation and internal mail.
• Answer the telephone and provide assistance to patient care staff with location of documents in the EHR.
• Prepare and release records in accordance with state and federal law.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient and facility information at all times both while on duty and off duty.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Record Technician certification preferred.
• 1 years of related work experience preferred.
• Experience working in the medical industry required.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Intermediate proficiency with computers is required.
• Knowledge of electronic health records and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of HIPAA.
• Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
