About Us
Milano Financial Services is an established family-owned tax and financial services firm serving individual and small-business clients throughout New Jersey. Our practice focuses primarily on individual income tax preparation and providing personalized service to our clients.
We are looking for a Seasonal Part-Time Tax Associate to join our team beginning in October, with the opportunity to grow into a more active tax-preparation role during the January–April tax season.
This position is a great opportunity for someone with an accounting, finance, business, or administrative background who is interested in learning the tax-preparation process.
Previous tax-return preparation experience is not required.
What You’ll Do
Beginning in October, the position will focus primarily on:
- Organizing and reviewing client tax documents
- Entering tax information into our tax software
- Assisting with the preparation and processing of individual tax returns
- Reviewing returns and supporting documentation for completeness
- Communicating with clients to obtain missing information
- Performing basic administrative duties related to tax preparation
- Learning federal and New Jersey individual income tax concepts
- Assisting experienced tax professionals with client files
- Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive client financial information
As your knowledge and experience develop, responsibilities can expand during tax season.
Opportunity for Candidates With Tax Experience
Candidates who already have experience preparing individual tax returns may be given the opportunity to prepare individual Form 1040 returns, depending on their experience and level of proficiency.
This creates the potential for a hybrid role involving both tax-return preparation and administrative/client-service responsibilities.

- Interested in learning individual income tax preparation
- Reliable and able to meet tax-season deadlines
Preferred Background
A background in any of the following is helpful, but not required:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Business
- Tax preparation
- Bookkeeping
- Banking or financial services
- Administrative/client-service work
Previous tax-return experience is a plus, but not required.
Experience with ProSeries is a plus, but not required
The position will begin in October with a limited number of hours per week, allowing the candidate to become familiar with our office, systems, and tax preparation process before the busy season.
Hours will gradually increase as we approach tax season.
October–December: Approximately 8–15 hours per week
January–April: Approximately 15–25 hours per week, depending on experience, availability, and workload
There is flexibility in scheduling for the right candidate.
Compensation
$17–$23 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Candidates with prior individual tax return preparation experience may qualify for a higher rate with additional responsibilities.
