Job Summary
Join our dynamic security team as a Part-Time Unarmed Security Officer, where your vigilance and dedication will help maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring premises through surveillance systems, conducting patrols, managing access control, and providing exceptional customer service to visitors and staff. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will ensure safety protocols are upheld while fostering a positive atmosphere for all. Mil-Spec Safety & Security, LLC is a veteran led security firm serving clients throughout the Philadelphia area, and we are currently filling four part-time posts.
Open Shifts
We are filling four specific posts. Please tell us in your application which one you are applying for.
- Position 1: 15 hours per week. Saturday and Sunday, 1100 to 1830. $18.00 per hour.
- Position 2: 15 hours per week. Saturday and Sunday, 1830 to 0200. $18.00 per hour.
- Position 3: 19.5 hours per week. Saturday 0400 to 1600, Sunday 0900 to 1630. $18.00 per hour.
- Position 4: 30 hours per week. Thursday 1800 to 0200, Friday 1800 to 0400, Sunday 1600 to 0400. $18.00 per hour.
Duties
- Conduct regular foot and interior patrols of the facility to monitor for suspicious activity and ensure physical security measures are in place.
- Operate access control systems to verify identities and authorize entry for employees, visitors, and contractors.
- Utilize CCTV surveillance equipment to monitor the premises and identify potential security breaches or safety hazards.
- Respond promptly to alarms and emergency situations by following established post orders and notifying supervisors, police, fire, or EMS as needed.
- Write clear, detailed daily activity reports and incident reports documenting any security concerns, incidents, or unusual activities observed during shifts.
- Maintain visitor and vendor logs and verify credentials in accordance with site security policies.
- Assist with conflict de-escalation and conflict management to resolve issues peacefully while maintaining safety standards.
- Provide courteous, professional service to tenants, clients, and the public while representing Mil-Spec on site.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of surveillance techniques and CCTV operation.
- Experience with physical security practices including patrolling and access point control.
- Familiarity with law enforcement procedures and incident report writing.
- Ability to follow emergency response procedures confidently. First aid, CPR, and AED certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of access control systems and security regulations compliance.
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor when interacting with the public.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, work outdoors in varying weather, and handle routine physical security tasks such as fire extinguisher operation.
- Skilled in conflict de-escalation, conflict management, and maintaining calm under pressure.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of security experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clean criminal background and ability to pass a background screening.
- Reliable transportation to and from assigned sites.
- Availability for weekend, evening, and overnight hours as scheduled.
- Prior military, law enforcement, or corrections experience is a plus.
This is an unarmed position. Act 235 certification and personal duty gear are not required.

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
