Design Engineer
Location: Fenton, MO
Position Summary
The Design Engineer supports the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of electric motors and electromechanical systems. Working closely with Senior Engineers, Engineering Technicians, Production, and Quality teams, this role contributes primarily to manufacturing support and engineering analysis activities but will also assist with new product development and product improvements. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical foundation and a desire to develop expertise in electric motor design, manufacturing processes, and quality systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze test results and provide recommendations for product improvements.
- Participate in reliability, performance, and root cause investigations.
- Assist with product configuration management and design documentation control.
- Support engineering change activities and product improvement initiatives.
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
- Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives.
- Assist with implementation of engineering changes and new product introductions into production.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality management system requirements.
- Support compliance with customer requirements, military standards (MIL-STDs), and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Develop test procedures and support specialized motor testing activities.
- Analyze test data and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
- Prepare engineering reports, specifications, validation documentation, and technical presentations.
- Maintain engineering records and product configuration documentation.
- Participate in design reviews and cross-functional project meetings.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- 1–3 years of engineering experience.
- Basic understanding of electric motors or electromechanical systems.
- Experience with design software and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
- Experience with Solidworks and Solidworks PDM.
- Experience supporting new product development projects
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
