About the role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will lead the estimating process for commercial mechanical and plumbing projects, reviewing plans, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate and competitive estimates and proposals.

The Senior Estimator will work closely with the Chief Estimator, management, vendors, subcontractors, clients, and project teams to develop successful project proposals, identify project costs and scope requirements, and ensure estimates are complete, accurate, and competitive. This position will also provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators while supporting the continued development of effective estimating practices.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating process for commercial mechanical and plumbing projects from initial review through final estimate and proposal.
  • Review plans, specifications, drawings, and other project documents to develop accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs using estimating software and other industry tools.
  • Analyze project scope and specifications to identify cost requirements, scope gaps, and potential risks.
  • Obtain and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors to support competitive and accurate estimates.
  • Collaborate with management, operations, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to develop successful project proposals.
  • Prepare bid summaries, estimates, and supporting documentation for project review.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior estimators.
  • Maintain knowledge of material pricing, construction methods, and market conditions to support competitive bidding.
  • Assist with estimating-related questions, change orders, and post-bid activities as needed.
  • Maintain accuracy, organization, and consistency across estimating documentation and processes.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5 years of progressive experience in commercial mechanical and plumbing construction estimating.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and electronic takeoff tools.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documents.
  • Knowledge of commercial mechanical and plumbing construction methods, materials, and costs.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with management, vendors, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior estimators.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project and operations teams.
