Overview of Position

We have been successfully operating our brewery in Waltham, MA since 2018, and we currently have a 30-bbl and 10-bbl brewhouses. We are looking for an experienced brewer to join our team and help manage the brewing operations. We are looking for someone with extensive brewing experience, a strong mechanical background, a thorough understanding of brewing science and recipe development, and experience managing people. The candidate will ideally be able to join our team in July, 2026; and work during the second shift (2PM- Midnight), four days a week (Monday through Thursday).

You will manage a state-of-the-art brew house with a canning line in an 18,000 sq. ft brewery space that currently produces around 20,000 barrels annually. Position Summary

  • Create, brew, and refine new and existing beer recipes.
  • Manage all raw material orders/shipments and inventories.
  • Manage brew schedule.
  • Develop and formalize standard operating procedures for all brewery processes; monitor each step of the brewing process.
  • Implement strategies for process improvement and workflow efficiency.
  • Hire and manage the brewing team as needed.
  • Ensure proper use of all cleaning/sanitizing chemicals/agents and adherence to all prescribed safety protocols.
  • Maintain the highest standards of quality and consistency.
  • Serve as a resource for equipment maintenance.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • Ability to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to regularly lift/carry 44 pound boxes, 55 pound bags and periodically lift/move 165 pounds
  • Able to work in a production environment which may be loud, wet, slick, humid, cold and/or hot
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently without loss of attention to quality
  • Able to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles

Desired Skills and Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in brewing capacity in a microbrewery
  • Brewing degree ideal; however, someone with a proven track record and well-documented background in brewing operations may also be considered for this opportunity
  • Experience with a 20 BBL system or greater
  • Strong mechanical background; strong cleaning/sanitizing background; lab skills and microbiological understanding; yeast handling proficiency
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs. and move up to 165 lbs. using traditional methods
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment yet be precise in daily tasks.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and delegating skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and attentive to quality and standards
  • Confident, team-oriented management style
  • Full availability throughout the week: ability to work morning, mid-day, evening, and or weekend shifts when necessary
  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
  • All candidates must have and maintain an acceptable driving record and pass a pre-employment background check.
