ABOUT THE ROLE
Founded in 2000, Mighty Engine is an award-winning agency with a small but mighty team of creatives and strategists focused on advancing life-saving, community-building causes.
We are looking for a Senior Web Designer & Developer to lead the design, development and launch of websites and digital experiences for mission-driven clients. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong visual design instincts with hands-on website development experience in platforms such as Webflow, WordPress and Squarespace.
The right person can own website projects from concept through launch, while maintaining high standards for design, accessibility, usability and technical execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leading website projects from strategy through launch
- Designing user-centered websites, information architecture and digital experiences
- Building and maintaining fully-responsive websites in Webflow, WordPress and Squarespace
- Collaborating with clients and internal teams to translate goals into effective digital solutions
- Supporting QA, accessibility, optimization and ongoing maintenance
- Providing client training on CMS use, content updates and basic website management
- Helping improve Mighty Engine’s digital production tools, processes and workflows
- Managing integrations with forms, analytics tools, email platforms and other third-party services
- Explaining technical recommendations in clear, client-friendly language
REQUIREMENTS
- 4 years designing and building websites
- Strong portfolio demonstrating both design and implementation
- Advanced Webflow experience
- Experience designing and launching WordPress websites
- Working knowledge of Squarespace design, configuration and maintenance
- Strong UX, visual design, and responsive design skills
- Ability to manage projects and communicate with clients
- Understanding of accessibility and web best practices
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and move projects forward
- Interest in public health, education, equity, nonprofits and community-centered communications
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- Motion design experience
- Basic HTML, CSS and JavaScript knowledge
- Experience with AI-assisted design or development tools
- Experience with analytics, SEO, performance optimization or conversion tracking
- Experience designing websites for nonprofits, public agencies, healthcare, education or social impact organizations
- Familiarity with tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, Dropbox, Trello, Canva or similar platforms
