Items to Note:
This position reports directly to VP of Finance and also work closely with R&D and senior management etc as noted in the JD.
It’s an individual contributor role and will work alongside the Cost Accountant, however will take on the lead role.
Travel isn’t a regular part of the job, but this person might make a trip once or twice a year.
New product costing and margin analysis are important must-haves —it’s a big part of what we need.
Strong ERP background (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) is fine if the candidate can learn quickly.
The main upcoming project is our D365 upgrade, which goes live November 1, so this role won’t be involved in this as all of the grunt work has been done. D365 experience is a plus but not a deal breaker.
Manufacturing experience is required.

We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to lead product costing, margin analysis, and cost control across multiple production sites. This position owns the cost accounting function, ensuring accuracy in cost of goods sold, establishing and maintaining standard costs, and delivering timely insights to senior leadership. The Senior Cost Accountant partners closely with Operations, R&D, Sales, and Executive Management to guide pricing strategy, improve profitability, and enhance financial reporting, while ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage the cost accounting process for all plants (West, East, and future expansions), ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Work with R&D, Sales, and Senior leaders to price new products to customers Update Sales team and Customers of monthly price changes.
- Create new bill of materials (BOM’s) for Ninth West and Ninth East in Microsoft D365
- Create new finished good (fg), packaging (pkg), and ingredient (ing) items for Ninth West and Ninth East in Microsoft D365
- Update standard costs for all fg’s, pkg, ing, and BOM’s
- Update labor and overhead standards
- Update monthly sales price in Microsoft D365
- Ensure materials are received promptly and accurately against PO’s and variances are thoroughly investigated
- Review standards and actual costs for inaccuracies
- Review open work orders to compare variance in std/consumption. Research variances.
- Assist with month end close
- Validate cost of goods sold as part of month end close
- Perform cost studies and creates a variety of ad hoc reports as needed

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft D365 skills
- Proven ability to collaborate with operations and leadership teams to drive profitability
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting to leadership
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
- A self-starter that can perform with minimal direction/intervention
- Positive, enthusiastic, motivated team player that can perform under deadline
- Proven relationship builder with unsurpassed interpersonal skills
