Workers’ Compensation Claims Supervisor / Manager
Location: Denver (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire
Salary Range: $85,000 – $105,000
Overview
We are hiring for a Workers’ Compensation Claims Supervisor or Claims Manager, depending on experience. This role is responsible for leading a claims team, ensuring high-quality claims handling, and maintaining compliance with state regulations and internal standards.
This position requires strong leadership, technical claims expertise, and regular interaction with clients, internal stakeholders, and claims staff in a hybrid work environment.
Leveling Guide
- Supervisor: 3–5 years of claims experience with prior team lead or supervisory exposure
- Manager: 5–10 years of claims experience with full team management, client oversight, and operational responsibility
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise Claims Examiners, Assistants, and clerical staff (performance, attendance, coaching, and disciplinary actions)
- Review and manage claims activity including initial reviews, delays, denials, and escalations
- Approve reserves, settlements, awards, and payments within company and client guidelines
- Conduct file reviews to ensure compliance with state regulations and internal policies
- Maintain diary systems and ensure timely follow-ups on all claim activities
- Lead and coordinate training on updated laws, procedures, and best practices
- Ensure proper staffing levels and daily caseload distribution
- Respond to claimant, client, and vendor inquiries and resolve escalated issues
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure service quality
- Prepare, analyze, and present monthly client reports
- Facilitate and participate in internal and external audits
- Attend and lead client meetings, file reviews, and claim discussions
Manager-Level Additional Responsibilities:
- Oversee unit performance and operational effectiveness
- Partner with internal teams on client service delivery and RFP support
- Provide account management support for key clients
- Monitor and manage branch/unit expenses and approve invoices
- Provide coverage for staffing gaps and oversee workload balancing
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Supervisor: 3–5 years of workers’ compensation claims experience
- Manager: 5–10 years of experience with leadership responsibility
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of workers’ compensation laws and regulations
- Familiarity with medical terminology (preferred, especially at Manager level)
- Experience working within a diary system and managing deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop team members
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Certifications:
- Relevant state certifications/licenses as required
