Mifflin Township Fire Department is seeking a Full-Time or Part-Time Fleet Maintenance Technician to perform preventative maintenance, diagnostic and complex mechanical repairs on fire engines, ladder trucks, medics, heavy rescues and support vehicles assigned to the Mifflin Township Fire Department fleet.

ities
- Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on fire trucks, ambulances, station vehicles, and small engines.
- Conduct repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes (including air brake systems), hydraulics, and suspension systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and fabrication techniques to assemble, repair, or modify equipment components.
- Maintain detailed service records and logs for all maintenance activities while adhering to safety protocols and manufacturer specifications.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform automotive diagnostics to identify issues quickly and accurately.
- Assist with heavy lifting operations
- Support the repair and maintenance of emergency apparatus.
Skills
- Proven experience working in dealership environments or with heavy equipment operations.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in automotive repair, equipment repair, welding, fabrication, and assembly.
- Familiarity with schematics for electrical wiring and hydraulic systems; ability to interpret technical manuals.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and diagnostic devices.
- Knowledge of diesel engine repair, brake systems (including air brakes), transmissions, alignment procedures, HVAC systems, suspension components, hydraulics, and tire services.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently; excellent customer service skills when interacting with team members or clients.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills combined with mechanical expertise; familiarity with automotive diagnostics software is a plus.
