OVERVIEW
The Sanitation Crew Member is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and food-safe environment across Miesfeld’s Meat Market facilities. This role supports food safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance by thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing production areas, including the sausage kitchen, formulation room, packaging areas, retail store, coolers, freezers, warehouse area, and office spaces.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Using the 7-Step Cleaning Process and ensuring accurate chemical usage in the following areas of the facility:
- Sausage Kitchen, Formulation Room, Packaging areas, Cut Room -- including equipment, tools, knives, floors, drains, walls, conveyors, and work surfaces
- Clean and maintain retail store areas, including floors, counters, and customer-facing surfaces
- Clean and maintain office spaces, breakroom, restrooms, warehouse, and hallways
- Properly dispose of waste and maintain trash, cardboard, and recycling areas.
- Safely handle and store sanitation chemicals following training and labeling requirements.
- Completed required sanitation logs, checklists, and documentation accurately and on time.
- Identify and report sanitation, equipment, or facility concerns to leadership.
- Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and quality teams.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to sanitation, safety, and efficiency.
- Maintain a strong attention to detail and take pride in cleanliness standards.
QUALIFICATIONS ~ EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform physical work for extended periods.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends as needed.
- Previous sanitation or cleaning experience in a food manufacturing or meat processing environment.
- Familiarity with SQF, USDA, or GMP standards.
- Experience using industrial sanitation equipment and chemicals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work at elevated heights and use ladders on an occasional basis.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Exposure to cold, wet, and noisy environments.
- Use of PPE including gloves, aprons, smocks, and slip-resistant footwear.
