Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced distribution center. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various types of forklifts and heavy equipment to facilitate the efficient movement of materials and products within the warehouse. This role is crucial for maintaining an organized and safe working environment while ensuring timely order fulfillment.
Responsibilities
1. Be able to learn to operate and maintain a forklift following established safety rules.
2. Be able to learn and operate the entire palletizing system, WISYS & labeling computer.
3. Properly load and unload pet food and incoming ingredients.
4. Properly supply packing lines with empty bags.
5. Assure proper rotation of all products using WISYS warehouse system.
6. Complete daily paperwork as required.
7. Make sure all trucks meet the sanitary transportation requirements prior to loading.
8. Accurately pick orders as directed by warehouse management.
9. Perform daily inspection/maintenance on equipment to assure it is in safe operating condition.
10. Practice safety at all times while on forklift (sounding of horn, seatbelt on, etc.)
11. Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 lbs.
12. Keep work area well swept and in a neat and clean manner in accordance with daily/weekly cleaning schedule.
13. Work in the most effective and efficient manner at all times.
14. Follow established plant safety rules. Follow established rules of conduct.
15. Support and report any concerns related to food safety and product quality to FSQA.
16. Participate in inventory/auditing/counting procedures, as required.
17. Work overtime as required.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Proven experience in heavy equipment operation, particularly with forklifts and cherry pickers.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems is preferred.
- Previous experience in a distribution center or similar environment is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of materials handling practices and safety regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining individual accountability.
