Position Overview
We are seeking two part-time Kennel Assistants to help care for boarding and hospitalized animals during evening shifts. The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently in a clinical setting.
Work Schedule
- Evening shifts 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (days will vary)
- Weekend and holiday availability required
Example Schedule:
Kennel Asst #1: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday 2pm-10pm (approx. 32 hours)
Kennel Asst #2: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 2pm-10pm (approx. 24 hours)
Key Responsibilities
- Feed and water animals as instructed by veterinary staff
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, floors, and hospital wards
- Walk and exercise dogs during scheduled shifts
- Monitor animal behavior and report concerns to veterinary team
- Assist with bathing and basic hygiene care
- Handle laundry, dishes, and end-of-day cleaning tasks
- Ensure proper documentation of feeding, walking, cleaning
Qualifications
- Prior kennel or veterinary assistant experience preferred, not required
- Must be comfortable handling dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments
- Ability to follow detailed care instructions and work independently
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and be on your feet throughout shift
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
