We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Painter/Rework Technician to perform painting operations on a variety of aerospace products. Under general supervision of the General Manager/Accountable Manager the Aircraft Painter/Rework Technician will be responsible for preparing surfaces for painting, mixing paint products, and applying paint to the engine and/or component parts.
As the aviation industry continues to grow, so does the need for proficient individuals who can meticulously carry out, enhance, and ensure the quality of aircraft painting. Their primary goal is to ensure the engine’s parts meet MTS’s standards and the aviation industry’s safety regulations.
Ultimately, the role of the Aircraft Painter/Rework Technician is to maintain the aesthetic and protective aspects of engine and/or component parts to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with industry standards.
The following are essential job accountabilities:
- Knowledge of color theory, paint composition and a steady hand.
- Prepare the engine and/or component parts for painting, which may include cleaning, sanding, filing and masking.
- Apply primer and finish coats using spray gun or other applicable equipment.
- Using various types of painting and coating materials, such as epoxy and polyurethane.
- Mix paints and other materials according to specifications or formulas.
- Performing quality checks for paint consistency and the desired color.
- Inspect engine and/or component parts for corrosion and repairing any found.
- Inspect painted units for runs, sags and unpainted areas.
- Perform touch-up painting as necessary.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Problem solving skills to identify issues with equipment or the application of paint and find effective solutions.
- Documenting work processes, materials used, and time spent for each job.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Removing and reinstalling parts on the engines and/or components as necessary for the painting process.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education: One to two years technical college/training or equivalent
Certifications/Licenses: None required
Minimum Experience:
Preferred Experience: Previous experience as an Painter/Rework Technician or similar role.
Skills: High attention to detail.
Detailed oriented, with a keen eye for quality and precision.
Ability to work in and as a part of a highly skilled team of professionals.
Problem solving and independent decision making skills.
Machine Skills:Operate hand and power tools.
Calculator, PC, telephone, copier/scanner/fax machine.
Conditions: Hangar or paint booth environment.
Exposure to weather. Work may be performed out of doors.
Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, and use of fingers, handle or free objects for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Physical Strength:Must be able to move and/or lift objects up to 50 pounds often.
Vision Requirements:Include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Communication: Communicate effectively with others in the work environment
and external customers
