Midwest Transit Equipment, Inc. seeks a Full Time Body Shop Lead Technician for our Kankakee, IL location. This is a 2nd Shift position working Monday - Friday 3pm - 11:30pm

We are looking for a Body Shop Lead Technician to perform a range of body repairs and refinish assignments such as painting, fiberglass work, and dent repair. With increasing responsibility the Body Shop Lead Tech must ensure all repairs are performed correctly and efficiently.

We are looking for a Body Shop Lead Technician to perform a range of body repairs and refinish assignments such as painting, fiberglass work, and dent repair. With increasing responsibility the Body Shop Lead Tech must ensure all repairs are performed correctly and efficiently.
Duties and Requirements:
- Assign tasks to Body Shop Technicians
- Remove dents and dings from vehicles
- Repaint damaged exterior of vehicles
- Remove damaged sections of vehicles and install replacement parts
- Paint repaired parts and full vehicles
- Complete tear down of vehicle for painting
- Reassembly of vehicles after paint or complete repairs
- Weld replacement parts into place
- Install glass windows
- Organize and coordinate work of damaged vehicles
- Move vehicles in and out of paint booth
- Use various tools and supplies to assist in removing dents and dings
- Knowledge of hand-tools and computerized repair equipment is necessary
- Possess and maintain a full set of tools necessary to perform the tasks assigned
- Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in a variety of environmental conditions
- Required to frequently life/carry 25-50lbs
- Must be able to bend, climb ladders, crawl, squat, kneel, reach and twist consistently to accomplish tasks
- Must be able to bend, stoop or reach for extended periods
- Ability to use and maintain paint spraying equipment
- Ability to use welding equipment
- Ability to install glass
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade
- Knowledge of the construction of the bus body
- Strict observance of all safety precautions and use of provided safety apparel
